LUGI Judo Camp 2007

This year LUGI Judo Camp has been a jubilee camp since it was 30 years old. We celebrated this with some extra activities such as a jubilee dinner and Judo Idol contest. The Idol jury consisted of

  • Tony "Randy" MacConnell
  • Sabine "Paula" Lebbihi
  • Neil "Simon" Adams

Jury

We saw and listened to many different performances during the evening. Some were unforgettable and some you want to forget right away. At the end it became very close among three of the artists. They were the Blues Brothers (a French and Swedish constellation), Fergus "Presley" Dullaghan (from Wales) and the Judo Mothers (an international constellation of judo mothers). Later the Judo Mothers were disqualified by the jury since they found out that not all of them were mothers. The jury finally selected the Fergus "Presley" Dullaghan to be the winner. Many thought the jury was heavily influenced by Simon, since he is the National Coach of Wales.

Another way to celebrate the jubilee was bringing a fantastic coach team together for the camp. They were as follows.

  • Neil Adams, 7 Dan, Great Britain
  • Tony Macconnell, 6 Dan, Great Britain
  • Chris Bowles, 6 Dan, Great Britain
  • Tommy Mortensen, 6 Dan, Denmark
  • Martin Schmidt, 5 Dan, Germany
  • Wolfram Streso, 5 Dan, Germany
  • Pascal Locarini, 5 Dan, France
  • Niki Adams (Jenkins), 4 Dan, Canada
  • Sabine Lebbihi, 4 Dan, France
  • Carl Finney, 4 Dan, Great Britain
  • Jakob Reinius, 3 Dan, Sweden
  • Michel Grant, 3 Dan, Sweden
  • Mike Liptrot, 2 Dan, Great Britain
  • Istvan Csehi, 1 Dan, Hungary
  • Csaba Szilagyi, 1 Dan, Hungary/Sweden

It is very seldom you can take part in a judo camp and get instructions from such a group of experts in judo. Five hundred and forty judokas did participate, which is ALL TIME HIGH!

Budo Nord Cup 2006 (2006-05-25)

Ippon i samtliga matcher!!

Emil Westenius tog silver i 66 kilos klasssen.

Photos

Many have sent e-mail to me, asking if they are allowed to download the pictures and use them for their own purposes (home page, print photos, etc.). The answer is yes, if you write or inform about its origin and what event it was. In this way you help us promote next year's event and that is a very good cause!

You can still find some of the pictures and the results down below from Budo Nord Cup and LUGI Judo Camp for 2005.

We have three web sites

Perhaps you are confused because this club has in fact three web sites. They are as follows:

  1. LUGI Judo Online
  2. Klubben Online - LUGI JK
  3. Yahoo! Sports Groups - LUGI Judo

#1 The very first judo site of Sweden (1996), LUGI Judo Online, is this site and the Web Master is Eddy Åberg. Its main purpose is to give information about the club and its activities, especially about Budo Nord Cup and LUGI Judo Camp, to all our international visitors, but you will not find the latest information about the club here.

#2 is a site in Swedish and the Web Master is Bertil Ström. Some of the LUGI Judo members also have access to and are able to update the site, so the latest news about the club is here first. The main language is Swedish.

#3 is most of all a mail group site and the Web Master is Eddy Åberg. Members or other interested people can sign in and will be able to receive club information (the main language is Swedish!) on a frequent and regular basis. It is also interactive so you can for example download and upload pictures, create automatic messages from a calendar, conduct a poll, manage your own account, etc.
